Around Town ~ May 31st to June 3rd

rodeo

Well there is always something to do around Spruce Grove and Stony Plain on the weekend but this weekend seems to be extra special! I’d like to think we will be able to do it all but realistically we will not; between swimming lessons and having the family over for a visit we have less time to go around. But that is just fine, we will do what we can and have a great weekend regardless! Here is a list of what is happening this weekend…

Farmer’s Days Rodeo and Exhibition runs Friday through Sunday with a little something for everyone! Head down to Heritage Park to check it out.

The actual Rodeo starts at 7pm on Friday night and carries through the weekend.

Saturday Morning features a pancake breakfast from 7am-10am with live performances by Peter Katz followed by a parade 11am-12pm. With a midway opening at 11am as well. Right after the parade ends (12pm) there will be a Farmer’s Day Block Party happening in front of the town office. There will be a BBQ and treats to raise money to support Stony Plain Memorial High Interact Club and Stony Plain Youth Centre so bring your loonies and toonies and have some fun!

On Sunday morning there is a non denominational church service followed by midway and rodeo!

Stony Plain Art Walk is also happening on Saturday June 1st and is the 1st Annual Art Walk! It is taking place from 12pm-4pm between Century 21 Decker Realty and the Heritage Market. Iit is free for all ages and is a great way to showcase local artists; they will be accepting donations for the Sonora Fire Victims as well! Show our community members some support and head on down to see what is happening. For more information go to: http://www.stonyplainartwalk.com/index.html

Spruce Grove Free-cycle Event takes place on Saturday June 1st and Sunday June 2nd. On these two days Spruce Grove residents are able to put unwanted items on the curb or sidewalk in front of their property and other residents can take what they would like. The week following the free cycle event the city will take away unwanted large items; items will be removed on your regular garbage day June 3rd through 7th. For more information on large item pick up go to: http://www.sprucegrove.org/programs_events/events/annual_events/lg_items.htm

Don’t forget to check out the local Farmer’s Market(s)!

‘Stony Plain Farmers Market’ is at the Community Centre in Stony Plain (5008-51 Ave) and runs from 9am-1pm on Saturdays!

‘The Heritage Farmers Market’ is at the Heritage Park Pavilion in Stony Plain and also runs 9am-1pm on Saturdays!

‘Spruce Grove Indoor Farmers Market’ is at the Grain Elevator Site (120 Railway Ave) and runs from 9:30am-1:30pm on Saturdays.

Have a great weekend everyone! If I missed anything please comment below with what else is happening around town.
