Land of Lemurs: Coming to the Calgary Zoo (+a giveaway)

3 cool facts about lemurs

  1. The name Lemur is actually Latin for “spirits of the night”.
  2. They have scent glands in their wrists.
  3. Lemurs have flat fingernails similar to human beings. (Manicure, anyone??)

and guess what? On Wednesday July 5 the Calgary is opening their newest habitat, the Land of Lemurs. This is the first habitat of its kind to be opened in Canada, you will be able to immerse yourself in the lemur’s world and visit the outdoor loop where three different species of lemur will swing, jump and leap!

While learning about how you can help protect one of the world’s most endangered primates, and declining forest habitats that are impacting species around the world including here in Canada.

To celebrate the lemurs arrival at the Calgary Zoo we are giving away a family pass. If you have a Calgary Zoo pass this is a great opportunity to invite grandparents, friends or someone visiting who would love to explore the zoo with you and your child!

While we’re very excited for the lemurs I’m curious what is your favourite animal to visit at the zoo? The Penguins are always a hit around here!

We always make a stop in the Penguins’ sanctuary to watch those birds swim and do their penguin walk.
