I am working with Wayfair.ca to share my go-to hostess gift idea with you!

I adore the Holidays for all the family time, gatherings, and fun! Who doesn’t love to be invited over for a party?

Put your best foot forward before you even walk in the door and put some thought into a hostess gift.

I chose to do a popcorn/movie night themed gift basket because my favourite thing to do with my family is to cuddle up on the couch with some treats and watch a movie.

Here’s what I included in my hostess gift:

  • Popcorn bowl
  • Disposable cardboard popcorn boxes
  • Paper napkins
  • Popcorn kernels
  • Himalayan Salt with Truffles
  • Holiday themed lollipops
  • Chocolate dipped red licorice (see below for a how-to!)

Now, if this were for an overnight stay or for a close friend, I might up the value of the gift by adding one or more of the following:

  • Netflix gift card
  • Favourite Holiday movie on DVD
  • Magazine
  • Bottle or two of wine (perhaps a red and a white)
  • Set of mugs or wine glasses

More fabulous gift ideas can be found here at Wayfair.ca.

Now, to make that chocolate dipped licorice! I was given this special treat as a gift a few years ago and don’t know where the gift giver purchased them because I have never seen them in a store. My girls and I have made our own several times, and it’s so simple and fun to do!

You’ll need:

  • Three Aero bars
  • Heavy or half and half cream
  • One package red Twizzlers

–> Melt the Chocolate with a touch of added cream in the microwave in short increments, making sure to stir in between as not to burn the chocolate!

–> Cut the Twizzlers in half.

–> Dip each Twizzler piece about a quarter or half way into the melted chocolate.

–> Lay flat and separated on a dish or pan.

–> Place in the fridge for about 20-30 minutes.

–> Remove it from the fridge and let it come back to room temp before attempting to remove them from your plate as the chocolate can crack easily when cold.

–> Use a sharp knife to carefully lift them off the dish.

–> Indulge in a few, and package up the rest for your gift!

I hope you have a wonderful Holiday Season, Mamas!
