As 2015 rolls over into 2016, many of us are thinking about what we would like the year ahead to hold. For Vancouver families, we have some suggestions. Why not plan to get out, get engaged and enjoy this community even more in the year ahead? With that in mind, here are nine Vancouver New Years resolutions for families.

10 Vancouver New Years Resolutions

1. Visit the Library

The library is a great place to take the kids for some free family fun in any weather. With 22 Vancouver Public Library branches across the city, and other libraries across the region, there’s bound to be one near you. You can even meet other mamas and learn songs and rhymes at a free library storytime.

2. Take a Hike

Getting out for a hike is a great way to enjoy nature and get in some physical activity, too. And thanks to our mild climate this is one Vancouver New Years resolution you can get started on right away. Wondering where to go? Here are some of our favourite family-friendly hikes.

3. Plan a Staycation

Getting away from it all is great, but in a city like ours there’s plenty to do right here at home. Plan a day, weekend or week of local family fun. You can even kick things up a notch and get a hotel room. Visit the beach, take the gondola up to Grouse Mountain, hop on the ferry to Bowen Island or wander Granville Island. Tourism Vancouver has a great list of family-friendly local fun.

4. Experience Culture

Culture Babes is a local group that organizes cultural visits for parents and their infants and toddlers. Meet other mamas and take in a tour of a local museum or cultural exhibition. Not only will it be fun for you, you’ll be nurturing a love of culture in your little one.

5. Enjoy a Family Date Night

7. Check out StrongStart

If you want to get out of the house with kids and meet other mamas, StrongStart is a great place to do it. This free preschool program is open to children five and under and their caregivers. There are programs in locations across Vancouver. Read our article to find out more!
