2018 Honda Odyssey: Fantastic Family Vehicle + What’s New

I drove the 2018 Honda Odyssey recently. I had the Touring model.

You may or may not know this, but I just recently sold my 2007 Honda Odyssey which I had for 10 years. It was a fantastic and reliable vehicle for our family, and there was nothing wrong with it. It also had amazing re-sale value which is just one reason I recommend the Honda Odyssey to families all the time.

The newly redesigned body style for 2018 is sleek, lower profile, and looks very sporty in comparison to other mini-vans. I really like the looks of it.

Like the past several models, the trunk has plenty of cargo space and even a built-in vacuum cleaner!

One of my favourite new features, is the button shift. I like the simplicity of it. No paddle-shift or steering column shifter. I love this for it’s modern simplicity. Also, getting used to pushing a button to go from Reverse to Drive and into Park, well, it was so easy to get used to.

The Honda Link app connects you to your vehicle in high tech ways including being able to lock/unlock and start your vehicle from anywhere with your phone. Saying up to date with maintenance, notifications, kilometers were driven, and more.

Honda should be well-known for well-placed cupholders. I count five within reach of the driver’s seat. Another 3 in the middle row center plus one in each rear passenger door.

The only negative was the lack of USB chargers in the back. There was only one.

I can’t say enough good things about the Honda Odyssey. The drive is nice and smooth, and the acceleration is great when the enviro setting is turned off.

The 2018 model starts at $34,890 CAN.

The new features for 2018:

  • More powerful engine, advanced new transmissions, and extensive body redesign combine to deliver top-class performance and cabin quietness
    • Ultimate family flexibility and connectivity with available new
    Magic Slide™ seats, 4G LTE Wi-Fi, CabinWatch™ and CabinTalk™ technologies
    • Standard Honda Sensing® technology
    • First application of new Honda-developed 10-speed automatic transmission

* I drove the Honda Odyssey for a week in order to facilitate this post.
