We were in Drumheller, Alberta and the famous ‘Dinosaur museum’ (Royal Tyrrell Museum) was on our agenda for the day.

It was breakfast time at our hotel, and a giant stack of pancakes was on the menu for my-then five year old Berlin.

I glanced around the table at my girls. One look in Berlin’s eyes told me something was very wrong. She was looking at me with a very desparate look in her eyes. No coughing, no movement really. In the blink of an eye, I grabbed and turned her around to squeeze her, hard. It dislodged the pancake and she was fine. She was really mad at me, told me I’d hurt her, but she was fine. She was breathing.

My husband and I looked at each other across the table, knowingly. I breathed a massive sigh of relief. and our day went on.

I knew that it was quite possible that I had just saved my five year old’s life.

I was so grateful then, that I had sat through the countless workshops with our Modern Mama Infant & Child CPR event over the years. I had started offering this event in Edmonton in 2008, and have been ever since.

It’s the perfect fit for new moms because this doesn’t have to be an all-day event, it’s simple – the important stuff. We also offer childcare so moms of tots can come and babies are welcome to stay with mom too.

Most importantly, it could save your child. Register now, space is LIMITED, the next event is happening here in White Rock at the Evergreen Childcare Centre on March 1st.

Berlin was obsessed with Barbies when she was five.
